Thanks for your interest in Lit Crawl Richmond on Saturday, August 8th!
Welcome to the inaugural Lit Crawl Richmond, co-presented by James River Writers and Litquake! Lit Crawl Richmond is a literary takeover of the city featuring literary performances from writers and poets of all genres and backgrounds. Lit Crawl Richmond is only accepting fully developed proposals for one-hour programs/sessions, not applications from individual authors.
Lit Crawl Richmond is committed to showcasing Richmond’s literary diversity. Accordingly, we encourage submissions that feature authors from any and all backgrounds including (but not limited to) individuals who are BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, neurodivergent, and everyone with a story to tell.
We're also open to all genres, approaches, and schools of thought when it comes to storytelling and literary programming. Just wow us!
Our basic criteria:
- Are your authors free on Saturday, August 8th, from 5:00-9:00 pm?
- Is your organization local or in some way connected to the Richmond Metro Area? Or able to travel to Richmond on August 9th?
- We strongly recommend making sure that all authors included in your proposal have already confirmed their availability for August 9th before submitting.
- By submitting, prospective participants agree to work collaboratively with the Lit Crawl Richmond programming team if accepted.
Other things to know:
- Lit Crawl curator slots are limited to one hour.
- Curators, emcees, and readers should focus their participation on one select Crawl event. This helps the organizers ensure that everyone's where they need to be, when they need to be there!
- Lit Crawl events don't feature book sales/signings, due to time and logistical constraints.
- All participants' photos and bios will be listed online, if submitted by the deadline provided to accepted programs.
